I'm Tomaz, the developer of Netbot. If something isn't working or you have a question about the app, email me at the address above.

Please include your device, OS version and Netbot version, what you were trying to do and what happened. A few steps I can follow to reproduce the problem are especially useful.

You can attach a diagnostic report if it helps, but check it first and remove private network details. Please don't send passwords, API keys or webhook secrets.

Buying Netbot

Netbot is a one-time universal App Store purchase for Mac, iPhone and iPad. You don't need a Netbot account, and there is no Netbot subscription. The US launch price is $9.99; the App Store shows your local price and any applicable taxes.

The Android edition is a separate Google Play purchase; an App Store purchase does not unlock it. The price shown by Google Play applies in your region. There is no Netbot subscription or account.

The diagnostic tools and built-in explanations work without an AI service. Cloud AI is disabled in the first Android release, which includes the offline Copilot. On Apple devices, if you choose to use Claude or OpenAI, you need your own provider API key, and that provider may charge separately.

Permissions and Wi-Fi details

Local Network access on Apple devices lets Netbot check your router and discover devices when you choose to run discovery. On Android, local discovery uses network access and nearby Wi-Fi permissions where applicable. Location permission is needed for Wi-Fi information protected by the operating system, including the network name on Android. It is not used to collect GPS coordinates. You can change these permissions in system settings.

Not every Wi-Fi detail is available on every device. iPhone and iPad do not expose Wi-Fi signal strength or nearby-network scans to Netbot. The Mac App Store version does not use shell-based ARP discovery, so some device details may be missing.

A device may not appear in discovery if it doesn't answer ICMP or advertise a Bonjour service. That does not necessarily mean it is disconnected.

Monitoring

Keep Netbot running for monitoring and scheduled checks. On Mac, you can use the menu bar while the app is running. On iPhone and iPad, checks run while the app is active; Netbot does not continuously monitor the network in the background.

On Android, periodic checks use WorkManager when you enable them. The system may delay them to save battery. Netbot does not promise uninterrupted monitoring, and scheduled speed tests skip cellular or metered connections unless you allow them.

Optional AI

The first Android release uses the offline planner only. It needs no API key and sends no questions or diagnostic evidence to an AI provider. The following options apply to the Apple versions.

Apple on-device AI runs locally on supported devices. Claude and OpenAI are optional cloud services. Netbot sends selected messages and diagnostic evidence directly to a cloud provider only after you allow sharing with that provider.

Redaction is on by default, but it cannot remove every private detail. You can revoke sharing and remove provider keys in Settings. The privacy policy explains what can be sent and how your choices work.

Security checks

A security grade is a summary of the checks Netbot performed at that time, not a guarantee that a website, domain or device is safe. Only test networks and systems you are allowed to assess.
